Mega-GLOW-Mania 2010 Date: Saturday 14th August 2010 Location: Oakwood Theme Park, Pembrokeshire, UK Real coasters are made of wooooood! Or as they say in Welsh "n sylweddol coasters gwneir chan allt!". Yes it's that time of the year when we head into Wales to visit Oakwood (in Narberth, Pembrokeshire), where a coaster crazy day of riding some wooooood awaits us! The megatastic day starts and finishes on the excellent woodie Megafobia! Saturday 14th August is the day and it all begins at 09:00 with a one hour exclusive ride session (ERS) on the UK's number one woodie Megafobia! This is followed by an optional 'Speed' takeover, then freetime where you can form groups and take over each ride one by one. At around 14:00 we will head to the playing field for a crazy baseball game (Club style) and then from 17:30 you have the option of going to CC2000 for a game of 10-pin bowling (for a nominal extra charge) or you can pop back to your B&B before we re-enter the Park at around 19:45 for our grand finale! Another one hour ERS on Megafobia. The sun is due to set at around 20:15 so we will continue our traditional Mega-GLOW-Mania! So bring anything that flashes or glows (nothing too big though - remember safety first) and we will then create our very own lightshow on Megafobia as it flies round the track to a specially mixed musical accompaniment that may include a bit of Verka! A fabulous way to end a wonderful day. Don't miss it! HEATHERTONS - Go-Karting - Sunday 15th August Add a bit of extra fun to Mega-GLOW-Mania weekend! A deal has been arranged where you show your trip badge and/or membership card and get 15% off any token package. Due to popular demand, I have arranged an EGS (exclusive go-kart session) at Heathertons. From 10:30-11:30 (on Sunday 15th). I have rented the whole track and all the karts! These are not sea-side karts, they are proper 40mph race karts (see previous Yearbooks for pictures). The cost for the EGS will be around £12 per person (depending on numbers), but there is a maximum number of 20. So if you are interested please e-mail me (andy@rccgb.co.uk) with the subject KARTING and I'll send you more details. For further details about Heathertons check out: www.heatherton.co.uk RCCGB Members click HERE to download your invite form* FINAL APPLICATION DEADLINE: AUGUST 07 2010

The exact details for the event will be announced in due course and will be contained on the trip invite which will be posted to your door and appear on this page. Time for the last UK event of 2010 and the final big event of the coaster season, and what a great way to finish! A loopy weekend with ERS's on at least 4 top rides. In 2008, our ERS's were on Oblivion, Nemesis, Apocalypse and G-Force!. Loopathon is a two park weekend with us visiting Alton Towers on the Saturday and Drayton Manor on the Sunday. On Saturday we will be visiting Alton Towers with a morning ERS (TBA). This is followed by freetime and your chance to form groups and takeover rides like AIR, Spinball Whizzer, Rita and more. At 12:30 we usually meet together in the Corporate Hospitality Suite for an optional hot lunch (with licensed bar!) . Here the Merchandising stand will be available with a full range of RCCGB Clothing and Collectables. The day ends with another ERS (TBA), and of course - it will be dark! If you have any items left over from the previous trip - Mega-GLOW-Mania, bring them along and create a GLOWathon! On Sunday we will meet at 09:00 at Drayton Manor Park in Tamworth. The day normally starts with an ERS on Apocalypse (TBC) where you can try the three options, sit-down, stand-up, and stand-up with no floor! After this, you'll be given a wristband for unlimited riding, and we all usually take over Maelstrom! A generous buffet in The Tower is included at 12:30 and the day ends with a dark ERS (TBA). What a great end to the 2010 coaster season! More details will be posted here when known, and the application form will be available in PDF format when available. |
