USA 2010 - The Hot Tracks TourDay 7 - Saturday 31st July 2010Trip Report from Trip Report from Martin's Fantasy Island & Niagra Falls |
Day 7, our last day of the Hot Tracks Tour started early for the group displaced to the other hotel as we had to meet the rest of the group for breakfast. So it was on the coach for 8AM. Unknown to us at the time the problems with the coach experienced yesterday had worsened and the coach was spewing out oil. Bob stopped off at the Walmart next to our hotel and filled a shopping trolley with oil!
So we were finally on our way to meet the rest of the group at their hotel for breakfast. Due to the Walmart stop we were running late and arrived at the planned departure time for Niagara Falls. We did have time for breakfast while Bob loaded all the cases into the hold. After breakfast we had a look at the back of the coach and found it all black with dripping oil where it had recently travelled and a pool of oil where it had stopped. It wasn't looking good. Anyway we got onto the coach for our journey to Niagara Falls. There was a replacement coach organised as we didn't expect the coach to make it into Canada. On the interstate the problems were getting worse. Just after a toll booth Bob flashed down a heavy recovery specialist who was just in front. He took a quick look at the coach, diagnosed the problem and said it would take approximately an hour to repair. Quick decisions had to be made and we all got off and onto the one coach for a short drive as Nev had already planned a short stop at Martin's Fantasy Island which was en-route to Niagara Falls.
We all managed to get onto the one coach while Bob went off with the specialist to get his fixed. Having spilled the surprise about Martin's we were well on our way when we heard a siren and the local police pulled alongside but thankfully continued on, they weren't after us as we were well over loaded. On arrival at Martin's Fantasy Island it was straight off for a couple of rides on their '99 CCI woodie, Silver Comet. Heather was so eager to do the woodie rather than their Crazy Mouse she had to do the Crazy Mouse as her 700th tick! A great achievement anyway and a great end to the coaster riding of the mini trip. Eventually Bob returned with his coach, all fixed and cleaned at the back. Before we headed off to Niagara Falls it was presentation time.
First up was Bob, who was presented with a collection made for him on our coach. During his presentation he was also presented with a sticker for his coach which said "Disaster Dr" Another collection was made on the other coach too. Then Ryan stood up and presented Nev with a collection made on both coaches for his hard effort in getting these trips organised, more so with this trip as the dollar exchange rate kept falling. Everyone applauded Nev and appreciated the hard work that goes into this trip. Nev was also presented with a souvenir folder from the trip which also had many words of thanks from the trip attendees. Presentations over it was back onto our coaches for the short drive to Niagara Falls. There we cleared immigration which left us an hour at the Falls for a bite to eat, some souvenir photo's before boarding our coaches for the last time for the journey to Toronto Airport. As ever i'm sure everyone will agree the trip went very well and despite the mechanical problems didn't impact on the planned itinery apart from a shorter stop at Niagara Falls. Next up is the Shake, Rattler & Roll trip next year, can't wait to see everyone riding that coaster!!
