USA 2010 - The Hot Tracks Tour

Day 6 - Friday 30th July 2010

Trip Report from Waldameer Park

Group Photo

Day 6 and the eagerly awaited missing hot track. In the trip tip guide Nev did put the hotel phone number in and a web address, obviously not the correct information. The website ported to Procter & Gambles deodorant and the phone number got you through to the White House! I wonder how many tried these out! Anyway the journey commenced and still nothing revealed about the park. The journey took a few hours but that wasn't a problem as the park didn't open until midday. Then we were here, a great little family park visited last year but well worth another visit, Waldameer in Erie, Pennsylvania and as there were many on their first USA Trip, they were on their first visit here and were in for a treat.

Ravine Flyer II ERS

The Day started with an hour's ERS on their great woodie, Ravine Flyer II which was running as well as last year. This is a great ride and everyone who rode it was full of compliments. After the ERS we were treated to an all you can eat buffet right next to the coaster. This was followed by a speech from the park's owner. After this Steve took a few of us into the structure of Ravine Flyer II and this was a different tour to last year's. This time we went into the middle, saw the storage area of the second train and also saw the motor for the lifthill chain. After this we had free time to explore the park's other roller coasters and flat rides. Some members tried out the kiddie Ravine Flyer 3, rode their other woodie, The Comet, or tried the Maurer Sohne Steel Dragon. Many went on the chair lift, drop tower and other rides. We had to be back on the coach at 6PM and on arrival at the coach we found tools and everthing nearby. Bob had called his brother and mechanic as there was a problem and had the part replaced while we were having fun in the park. Then there was a short drive to a shopping mall for the shoppers amongst us, some went shopping and some went to socialise in the English Pub & Grill. There was a pool of oil under our coach when we returned from the pub so there was clearly still a serious problem with it.

There was also a problem with the night's accommodation. A computer error had meant the rooms were double sold so a few of us had to spend the night away from the main group in an alternative hotel but we made best the situation. After Bob had dropped the remainder of the group off, he returned to our hotel for the night. We had a couple of beers to celebrate another successful USA Trip as did the group at the other hotel. We then retired for the evening in readiness for our last day, a short trip to Niagara Falls and the Airport.
