Day 4 started when we boarded the coach at 8.15AM for our short journey to Kings Island. We had a birthday on the Phoenix coach, Adrian who was celebrating 44 years. Good old Grandad started the birthday song for him. On our arrival at Kings Island we were greeted with "Welcome The Roller Coaster Club of Great Britain" on their huge electronic information sign, a very nice touch from the park.
Inside the park we gathered for a group photo in front of the fountains and Kings Island sign with their Eiffel Tower in the background. Then it was off for the first ERS of the day on Diamondback. After a couple of goes on here it was over to the legendary Beast for our second ERS of the day, this continued until the public had filled the station so towards the end we were sharing extra rides with the public. The park gave us wristbands for free soft drinks all day which helped as it was hot! We then had time to explore all the rides before our next treat, an optional walk in the structure of The Beast at 2PM with the engineering manager of the park and co designer of The Beast, Jeff.
We got a great view of the rides first drop and many questions were asked about it's construction and the future of "Son of Beast" which is still standing but not operational, The park are still undecided what to do, but hopefully they'll get it up and running as we have lost too many woodies. After this walk in the structure we had time to complete our rides and a number of queue lines had dropped to only around 15 minutes which was great news for all of us. We were able to do the Drop Tower, Delerium, The Racer which later in the day was racing. Having ridden both the blue and red trains we won both times, must be the weight! Other great rides ridden were The Backlot Stunt Coaster, Adventure Express, Firehawk, Invertigo to name a few. We had to be back on the coaches at 6PM for our 4 hour drive to Sandusky in readiness for a long day at Cedar Point. Nev went to the other coach for the first leg of the journey so they could have some fun playing Bingo. He left Mike in charge of our coach and when reading out the coaster list and what we thought was favourite, Diamondback, a steelie won! It deserved it as it was smooth with plenty of the club's favourite, Airtime!!
